The location in South Portugal
Vale da Alegria is a beautiful 26-hectare area in the Algarve, plenty of cork oaks and other trees, a valley and mountains.
A small river flows through the land, providing us with drinking water through a well. And a barrage that will be transformed into a swimming pond.
Within biking/walking distances of villages and lovely beaches:

Within biking/walking distances of villages and lovely beaches:
- The beautiful Praia de Odeceixe (11 kilometers) with delicious and cozy eateries and beautiful walks over the rocks.
- Near the village of Rogil is the quiet Praia do Vale dos Homes (9 kilometers).
- And near Aljezur there is wide Praia do Amoreia (12 kilometers) with also the possibility of swimming in the river.
Directions by car
From Aljezur go in the direction of Rogil (via the main road).
In Rogil, turn right at the hotel (just before the traffic lights).
Keep immediately to the left. This is a long road about 3 kilometers.
At the T-junction (with bus shelter, mailboxes and sign Carrascalinho) turn right and immediately take the first left. (If you are coming from Cassascalinho, turn right just before the bridge).
At the Y fork keep to the right and keep going straight until you see the sign "Barrancao de Baxio", there you go straight up the dirt road until you see the next sign "Barrancao de Baxio", there you turn right and drive all the way down (1 kilometer).
Note: Drive carefully here, honk in the curves because you cannot pass. Over the little stone dam to the right uphill and then you will see Vale da Alegria!

Public transportation
Flying is the best way to get to Faro. From Faro travel by train or bus to Lagos. And from Lagos the bus to Aljezur/Rogil.
With a (rental) car it is 120 kilometers (an hour and a half drive).
From Lisbon there is a direct bus to Aljezur/Rogil and it takes about four hours.
From Rogil it is walkable to Vale da Alegria (seven kilometers) but it is also possible to be picked up.
